Amogy, a US provider of ammonia power generation solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the country's W-Industries to explore opportunities for technology and engineering cooperation.
Amogy has developed an ammonia power generation system that decomposes, or “decomposes,” liquid ammonia into the basic elements hydrogen and nitrogen, and injects the hydrogen into a fuel cell to generate electricity with an energy density five times that of a lithium battery. . The technology is tailored for industries such as shipping and power generation.
Under this Memorandum of Understanding, Amogy and W-Industries will explore opportunities to efficiently scale the design and manufacturing of modular and containerized variants of Amogy products. This includes establishing a joint commissioning and service support structure for future projects and product deployments.
“Our partnership with Amogy represents an important step in W-Industries’ history and our commitment to supporting sustainable energy solutions.” Said Michael baneSVP of W-Industries. “We look forward to leveraging our process knowledge and packaging expertise to support the commercial development of Amogy’s ammonia power generation solutions and continue to build a long-term partnership.”
Woo Sung HoonThe Amogy CEO added: “We are excited to formalize our partnership with W-Industries. By combining our expertise and resources, we look forward to unlocking new possibilities and optimizing Amogy’s commercial services.” Together, we are ready to deliver even more value to our customers and make a positive impact on the industry.”
Amogy's ammonia power generation system will also be integrated as the primary propulsion method in the design of a carbon-free electric platform supply vessel (ePSV) being developed by Green Ships Invest.
Amogy and GreenShips recently strengthened their partnership, which began in October 2023, by signing a “landmark” commercial agreement.
