Nacogdoches, Texas – Students enrolled in Dr. Dan Lee’s spring session of Art Appreciation at Stephen F. Austin State University experienced an innovative intersection of art and technology.
Lee, a visiting professor of art education in the School of Fine Arts, provided non-art students the opportunity to create contemporary functional art through the design of board games that utilize technology.
“Their latest effort was aimed at fostering a sense of belonging to 'Texas' Oldest Town,'” Lee said.
Students worked together and individually to design a series of board games that served as an engaging tool to introduce Nacogdoches' traditional symbols and historic buildings to audiences, Lee explained. .
“This innovative methodology has strengthened their connections not only in Nacogdoches, but also within the SFA community,” Lee said.
The culmination of their efforts is on display in the SFA MakerSpace at Steen Library through May 7th.
