AXIS Capital has appointed Simon Dejung as Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Cyber & Technology (GCT), effective immediately.
Mr. Dejung joins from SCOR, where he most recently held the position of Cyber CUO as part of his 13-year tenure. He has an extensive background in cyber and specialty insurance (re)insurance, as well as experience in the science, engineering and energy sectors.
The new Zurich-based CUO will play a pivotal role in driving underwriting profitability and driving strategic initiatives across the GCT platform, including the North American, European and London markets. He will report directly to Lori Bailey, head of GCT.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Bailey said: “We remain focused on underwriting excellence and our portfolio as we continue to develop advanced solutions that help our partners and customers prepare for, protect and respond to evolving cyber and E&O (errors and omissions) risks. Our management team remains central to our success.
“Simon’s strong background in cyber and expertise in underwriting governance and reinsurance will add tremendous value to our team as we aim for consistent and profitable growth. We are excited to welcome him to our leadership team.”
The move follows changes within AXIS' leadership team. In February, the company announced the appointment of Edward Ashby as chief commercial officer, Stephen Lord as global chief information officer and Robert Barriero as global head of strategic sourcing and corporate real estate.
