CANAAN — Canaan Schools received a $5,000 grant from Consolidated Communications' Consolidated Connects Educational Grant Program to support classroom technology upgrades. The grant was celebrated during a check presentation at an all-school assembly on May 10th.
This funding will enhance the technology available in the classroom and allow students to be more interactive through programs and lesson materials that focus on movement, movement and balance skills.
“We are extremely grateful to Consolidated Communications for this generous grant to support our youngest learners,” said Essex North Superintendent Union Superintendent Jennifer Rousewitz . “Research shows that young children learn better when they engage in activities that involve multiple modalities such as music, movement, and vision. We are excited to expand our use.”
Scott Brooks, Consolidated's Director of Government Affairs, emphasized the importance of these efforts.
“Through the Consolidated Connects education grant program, we are increasing access for students to learn, grow, and thrive. Investing in education initiatives like this makes our communities stronger and Consolidated Ted is proud to support the Canaan community and its youth through this grant.”
The Consolidated Connects Education Grant Program provides funding to K-12 schools in the company's service area that offer innovative, technology-centered learning programs. Since 2021, the program has awarded more than $160,000 to 52 schools, impacting more than 14,500 students.
Canaan School serves pre-K through 12th grade students and their families in Canaan and surrounding communities. Canaan School, part of the Essex North Superintendent's Union, offers a wide range of academic and technical career programs, early university admission and dual enrollment opportunities, and co-curricular programs including athletics, visual and performing arts .
The school aims to help students become educated, responsible, caring and contributing members of society and provides an excellent rural education.
