Creative Technology Introduces Elation Proteus Radius Beam Light to US Market

united states of america – Creative Technology, one of the entertainment technology industry's leading providers of AV technology, has delivered the first U.S. delivery of Elation's new high-intensity Proteus Radius beam lights. Powered by a solid-state phosphor conversion (SSPC) light engine, his Proteus Radius emits an ultra-narrow 0.9° beam that looks breathtaking in the air and can reach amazing distances.

Ian Dobson, lighting technical director at Creative Technology, first saw the fixture at the LDI show in December and immediately recognized its potential. “We needed a fast-moving, eye-pleasing style of light suitable for a corporate environment that was lightweight, capable of surprising and dazzling the audience,” he said. “The Radius met our requirements. It projects a beautiful thin beam and has plenty of gobos for a striking look.”

Elation launches a new era in high-impact beam lights with the Proteus Radius. What makes it unique is the SSPC engine, which produces a dense beam similar to a laser, but without the associated risks and regulatory challenges. Ian says his choice was also influenced by the fact that Radius is not subject to his FDA regulations and can operate without certification or permits.

This fixture's 100W SSPC light engine provides an ultra-high intensity beam that cuts with penetrating brilliance, even across vast spaces. The powerful beam is combined with full design features that allow designers to easily create a variety of impactful aerial effects, and the IP66 rating means it can be used in any environment, indoors or outdoors. Ian notes that the relatively low weight of the equipment (42 lb/19 kg) is also a key advantage, given the weight restrictions in many venues such as corporate ballrooms and convention centers. CT and Elation have had a strong relationship for many years, a partnership highlighted by a shared commitment to innovation, and this acquisition is a great example of that. “This was another opportunity for us to work with Elation to ensure they have the latest technology,” Ian said. “We felt it was the perfect time to get in early and get ahead of the crowd. We are excited to offer another breakthrough solution to our customers.”

Creative Technology has a reputation for introducing cutting-edge innovation. Particularly noteworthy was last year's holiday “Forest of Lights” at Descanso Gardens in Southern California. As a production partner with Chris Medvitz and his Lightswitch project, Creative Technology used his Elation's Proteus Hybrid MAX for the first time. This is another example of the company's trend-setting approach.

In recent years, Creative Technologies has significantly expanded its lighting capabilities serving the U.S. market. This investment in 100 Proteus Radius fixtures will ensure CT continues to meet the needs of its U.S. customer base and provide top-level lighting support to projects across the United States.
