In his new role, Rao will report directly to Chief Product Officer Stephanie Derflinger. His responsibilities include overseeing enhancements to the Empower Loan Origination System (LOS) and establishing the Dark Matter developer community. This initiative aims to help mortgage lenders embed deeper automation into their origination workflows while achieving tighter system integration through open application programming interfaces (APIs) and widgets.
Prior to joining Dark Matter Technologies, Rao served as Vice President of Product Management. Ellie Maeis a mortgage origination technology provider acquired by . intercontinental exchange 11 billion dollars in 2020.
During his tenure at Ellie Mae, Rao led the product strategy for the Encompass loan origination platform and Developer Connect solution, a suite of APIs that enable lenders and partners to securely share information.

Rao brings more than 15 years of experience in software engineering, product management, and technology leadership from both public and private companies within the mortgage industry and Silicon Valley startup ecosystem.
