Washington DC-(Effingham Radio)- Director Christopher Wray has named David G. Nantz as Deputy Director of the Operational Technology Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. Mr. Nantz most recently served as Special Agent in Charge of the Springfield, Illinois Field Office.

The Operational Technology Division develops and deploys technology-based solutions to enable and enhance the FBI's intelligence, national security, and law enforcement operations.

Mr. Nantz joined the FBI in 2001 as a special agent, investigating white-collar crime cases in the Las Vegas field office.

In 2008, he was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in the Economic Crimes Division of the Headquarters Criminal Division. He was then promoted to head of the department and served as program manager for cases arising from the 2008 financial crisis. Additionally, he was his liaison with the FBI's Office of the Special Inspector General for Troubled Asset Relief Programs and the President's Task Force on Financial Fraud Enforcement. He also led efforts to incorporate FBI agents into the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Nantz moved to the Miami field office in 2010, where he oversaw the corporate fraud program and the securities fraud program, among others. He also founded the South Florida Insurance Fraud Task Force. In 2016, he supported the FBI's international corruption mission with assignments in London and Pretoria, South Africa.

In late 2016, Mr. Nantz was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of the Los Angeles field office, where he oversaw 11 squads of special agents and forensic accountants. He was promoted to Inspector in the FBI Headquarters Inspection Division in 2019.

Nantz was appointed special agent in charge of the Springfield field office in 2021.

Mr. Nantz earned a bachelor's degree in political science from George Washington University in Washington and a law degree from George Mason University in Virginia. Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Nantz served as a law clerk to an administrative law judge at the National Transportation Safety Board and later became an attorney at an aviation law firm in New York.
