TThe European Union's landmark AI law, adopted by the European Parliament on March 13, sets out some of the first global standards for regulating artificial intelligence. Europe's young entrepreneurs are at the forefront of driving responsible AI innovation across a wide range of industries, as the EU positions itself as a leader in shaping the future of this innovative technology.
One of them is Vladimir Danila The 24-year-old founder of Linearity is reimagining the way people create static and interactive graphics. Competing with industry giants like Adobe and his Figma, Danila focuses on the marketing industry, with industry giants like Apple, Disney, Meta, and Microsoft adopting his Linearity vector-centric design platform. It says that there is. Danila's mission to simplify design tools and make them more accessible has led him to raise $20 million in funding and plans to expand the platform's AI-powered automation and collaboration capabilities.
Based in Berlin, Danila recognizes that AI is not a one-size-fits-all solution and that Linearity's current AI solutions are background removal and automatic tracing, not a replacement for organic creativity. “What's really important is that these technologies can be used in situations that improve the user's experience,” he says. Linearity plans to launch generative AI capabilities later this year aimed at transforming brands' product images.
This year's 30 Under 30 Europe Technology list is a testament to the variety of AI applications being developed by young entrepreneurs in Europe. For this year's judging, all candidates must be 29 years of age or younger as of April 9, 2024. Candidates were evaluated by a panel of judges including Nadine Hachach-Haram, plastic surgeon and founder of surgical platform Proximie. Dan Silvertown is a 2022 Under 30 Europe alumnus and co-founder of photo-sharing app Lapse.Sophia Benz, Partner forbes Midas-listed venture capital firm Cherry; and Rasmus Rothe, co-founder of Berlin-based AI venture studio Merantix.
The winners on this year's list who raised the most money ($101 million) are: Matty Staniszewski, 29, and Piotr Dabkowski The 29-year-old founded Eleven Lab in 2022 after becoming dissatisfied with the poor dubbing of American movies he watched while growing up in Poland. The AI voice technology company launched a beta text-to-speech platform in January 2023, with which he has created human-like voices for audiobooks, video games, and more in 29 languages. Eleven Labs quickly achieved unicorn status, with a valuation reaching his $1.1 billion.
The entrepreneurs on this year's list are using AI to solve global problems like climate change and cybersecurity.co-founder Pauline van Ostaen 28, and Michelle Vallee 29, Belgium-based Dockflow is an AI-powered platform for real-time container traceability and CO2 emissions monitoring in the shipping industry. Currently in the process of completing another funding round, Dockflow is valued at $5 million.London based lucy lyons 26, co-founder of mapping company Kestrix, uses thermal drones and AI to generate 3D heat loss models and building energy retrofit plans to address 10% of global emissions from heating and cooling. To Secfix co-founder Fabiola Munguia Her cybersecurity company uses automation to help businesses comply with data protection laws. Since its founding in 2021, Secfix has raised $4.2 million from Commerzbank Venture Capital Branch and Octopus Ventures.
Another AI user? Simo Remhandes 29 co-founded Paris-based folk, an all-in-one customer relationship management tool that centralizes customer data and interactions to enable a more personalized sales approach. Folk's AI-powered platform, which has raised more than $9 million in funding and serves more than 1,800 customers, allows users to prioritize contacts, set follow-up reminders, and more. , and competes with long-standing customer relationship management giants like Salesforce.
