HKT announces the adoption of the latest 50G PON technology, becoming the first telecommunications service provider in Hong Kong to support 50G applications through the use of 50G PON technology1. This will position HKT to deliver ultra-fast, multi-device, ultra-low latency network experiences to both consumer and commercial customers.

50G Fiber Broadband offers significantly faster speeds, with specified download speeds of up to 50Gbps2. Combined with the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology, the bandwidth is significantly increased and supports smooth simultaneous multi-device connectivity of all kinds for both home and commercial users. Latency is also significantly improved by an average of 27%3 compared to a 1000M fiber network.

By applying innovative 50G PON technology, HKT can further easily enhance the performance of existing fiber networks. Currently, HKT's 10G fiber broadband network4 covers more than 2.4 million households in 50,000 residential buildings and 8,000 commercial buildings in Hong Kong.
