IIIIT Hyderabad has partnered with i-Saksham, a non-profit organization (NGO) dedicated to empowering women and enhancing educational opportunities in Bihar. This collaboration is in line with the New Education Policy (NEP), which focuses on fundamental learning outcomes. The project aims to streamline growth monitoring, improve data accuracy, and provide reliable data to government agencies for effective interventions to combat malnutrition.
Existing workflows to capture and record height and weight measurements are completely manual and subject to data entry errors into the system by frontline staff such as anganwadi workers. Maintenance of weight and height measurement tools is also problematic, with equipment failures making the data unreliable.Because of this, the staff do In some cases, we may also estimate and record your child's height and weight. As of now, there is no proper data available from the government side to take steps to eliminate the same.
The current project aims to minimize these errors in data collection by automating as much as possible the process of recording height and weight information from measuring devices into a database. We propose to develop a CV-based solution that attempts to solve the problem with minimal or no additional hardware requirements (other than the user's smartphone) for consideration by organizations.
