JAMESTOWN — The James Valley Career & Technology Center has received $500,000 in funding to renovate its indoor space and expand its existing child care center, the North Dakota Department of Commerce announced Tuesday, March 12. .
The Department of Commerce announced that 18 organizations were approved through the Regional Workforce Impact Program (RWIP) in the first round of the program for approximately $4.2 million.
RWIP provides grants to North Dakota's regional workforce organizations to design and implement innovative plans to address their region's most demanding workforce challenges.
“RWIP is a great opportunity for North Dakota's communities and regions to create lasting solutions to workforce challenges,” said Katie Ralston Howe, Workforce Director at the Department of Commerce. “We are thrilled to announce the recent winners of this first round. We are impressed by the innovative, impactful, and locally-led solutions they have proposed. We look forward to seeing how these projects develop.”
RWIP recipients in the Jamestown area are:
- Valley City Barnes County Development Corp. received $71,220 in funding to leverage data to identify target communities for talent attraction.
- The Wishek Employment Development Authority received $67,450 in funding to update and remodel the lower floor of the community day care building to expand capacity.
Round 2 of RWIP is currently open until April 1, and eligible communities can apply by visiting ndgov/RWIP.
