The NCAA has appointed John Macrina, an industry leader with a strong track record in technology strategy and innovation, as its Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. With more than 25 years of experience, Macrina has demonstrated expertise in enterprise technology and digital transformation, making him a key contributor to technological advancements at global companies.
Macrina most recently served as SVP and Global Head of Enterprise Technology at TelevisaUnivision, where he was responsible for creating and delivering the enterprise technology and data strategy. His work there successfully transformed the organization, developed new capabilities and improved efficiencies. Macrina also played a pivotal role in TelevisaUnivision's digital transformation, enabling digital technology for revenue, corporate and broadcast/production functions.
Prior to his time at Televisa Univision, Mr. Macrina held key leadership positions at NBCUniversal and Bristol-Myers Squibb. In these roles, he was instrumental in creating and executing significant information technology, enterprise data and enterprise architecture initiatives. His leadership was characterized by strategic innovation, global delivery and adoption, and operational excellence.

Macrina’s extensive experience in technology and ability to drive digital transformation makes him a valuable addition to the NCAA leadership team due to his experience leading large-scale technology projects and innovative approach to problem-solving.

Macrina’s background as a Division I student-athlete gives him a strong understanding of the collegiate athletic environment: he is a former Big East Conference tennis student-athlete and Big East Academic All-Star at Seton Hall.
Macrina will begin NCAA competition on June 3.
