WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Significant advancements at United Regional continue to improve and grow the local hospital's spine care experience.
With the introduction of the Stealth Station Surgical Navigation and O-Arm Surgical Imaging System, local surgeons can now work on the spine closer than ever before.
“Decisions can be made on a smaller scale, hardware can be more precisely placed, and patient recovery times are faster,” said Ann D. Dabovich, senior vice president of operations and chief operating officer. It will be done,” he said.
Stealth Station allows surgeons to easily navigate spinal structures with real-time 3D visualization. Combined with her O-Arm, which provides detailed images of the patient's anatomy, precise pairing brings new opportunities to the operating table.
“The incision is smaller, [sic] There is less muscle destruction, less postoperative pain, less need for narcotics, and faster return to normal activities,” said neurosurgeon Dr. Sven Hochheimer. “So we can apply all of these things to make sure we have the best surgery possible. I always like to say, [that] It must be minimally invasive while maximizing effectiveness. ”
Additionally, the scale of procedures is becoming more diverse than ever before.
“With this new technology, we have a much wider area. So whether our patients are small or large, [in] In nature they [intraoperative] We were able to take photos that would not have been possible with our old technology,” Dabovich said. “Now we can provide medical care to those who care for patients in our facilities.”
In true United Regional fashion, integrated care allows patients to be guided every step of the way, from pre-surgery to post-surgery to recovery through the hospital's patient navigator program.
“As you know, surgery is a big decision for most people, and it's not something to take lightly,” Hochheimer said. “What I want my patients to know is that they have a patient navigator who can help them through the process so they can be confident that they are getting the right surgery at the right time in their life, in the right way. There's something called a surgeon.
So, if you're ready to take the step toward cutting-edge spine surgery…
“I can look my patients in the eye and honestly say, 'You're getting cutting-edge surgery here, you're getting the best surgery,'” Hochheimer said.
We provide the highest standard of care to our patients at all times.
