BRADFORD — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has created a new grant for engineering technology students enrolling full-time starting in fall 2024.
“We are pleased to offer this grant to incoming students majoring in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Energy Engineering Technology,” said Pitt-Bradford College President Rick Esh. “This new grant, along with other generous financial aid we offer on campus, will make it easier for future engineers to pursue an education at Pitt-Bradford and a degree at the University of Pittsburgh. It’s helpful.”
The new engineering grants will total $1,000 for eligible in-state students and $5,000 for out-of-state students. This grant is specifically targeted to out-of-state students to offset tuition increases for non-Pennsylvania residents.
This grant automatically renews annually for up to four years if the student maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25. Additionally, this grant can be stacked with other scholarships for which students are eligible.
There are no high school GPA or SAT/ACT requirements required to receive engineering grants. Grants are awarded during the admissions process.
You can receive the award even if you change your major to mechanical engineering technology or energy engineering technology during the first semester.
Pitt Bradford's Engineering Technology program is a hands-on version of engineering. Students studying mechanical engineering technology or energy engineering technology will study in the George B. Duke Engineering and Information Technology Building, which opened in January 2023.
The facility offers many opportunities for engineering technology majors and other students to apply what they learn in the classroom and gain real-world, hands-on experience by developing and testing their own creations. A unique space.
Students can build their own prototypes and test the aerodynamics of their designs in the fluid mechanics lab's wind tunnel. Cut, weld, and form metal in a machine shop. Test impact, hardness, and torque in the materials laboratory using compression/tensile testing machines and fatigue testing machines. Work with sensors and automation in the Sensors and Automation Lab.
