SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas (VALLEY CENTRAL) — Region 1 opened its 29th annual Technology Conference on Tuesday.
The three-day event will feature sessions and workshops designed to meet the diverse needs of professionals in fields such as information technology, network infrastructure, education technology, STEM, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence in education. .
This year's conference was held with an Olympic theme to inspire participants to aim for gold with the latest professional development and innovation.
“Our theme this year was the Olympics, so over the last few months we have had students actually running from Laredo to really promote the Olympics and cover all the counties that Region 1 covers. ” said the Region 1 Deputy Director. Adrian Garcia.
The conference will feature approximately 100 vendors, making it the largest conference to date in Region 1.
Educators are excited to learn from the conference and apply that knowledge to the classroom.
“Unfortunately, a lot of teachers can't go to school, so we can actually come and gather ideas and bring them back to the district so we can share all of those resources,” Thelma Fraga with Laredo Independent School District he said. Digital learning specialist.
The conference supports international technology vendors and a variety of local technology companies from across the Rio Grande Valley.
Jorge Diaz, owner of TuffDog Security Systems in Pharr, looks forward to serving more educators at this event.
“Our new product has the potential to be used in school districts because it is an interactive whiteboard and LED screen that can be customized in any way or format,” Diaz said.
