We've been hearing about this happening for quite some time now, and new technology is currently being rolled out.

What's happening now is new technology that gets customers out of the store and on their way home faster than ever before. Sam's Club already has a scan-and-go feature that is unique to Sam's Club as opposed to Costco. And going forward, team members will no longer check receipts when leaving Sam's Club.

A new technology being implemented in all Sam's Club stores is AI Receipt Verification.

The program was announced several months ago and has so far rolled out to about 120 stores across the United States. This is only about 20% of the stores.

Here's how it works: After Sam's Club members pay at the register or self-checkout, the items are inspected at the exit using a combination of computer vision and digital technology to confirm payment, the company said. Because it's AI, Walmart says the system is continually learning and improving processes.

Most of the stores that carry this are in the southern states. This was a test to see if it worked as expected, and it appears it was successful. The company plans to roll out the technology to all Sam's Club stores by the end of this year.

Are there any potential defects? Yes. But this was part of the reason for phasing it in.

Typically, customers who only use the Scan and Go feature will not see any changes to their systems.
