Solidion Technology Co., Ltd. SSTI Shares were up 130% to $1.80 Monday afternoon, although they are still off their trading high of $3.00. This significant increase was seen despite the lack of company-specific news for this session.
This rise could be due to post-IPO volatility, as the stock debuted in February. Solidion Technology began trading on the Nasdaq on February 5th under the ticker symbol “STI.” honeycomb battery company (HBC) and Nubia Brand International Co., Ltd.a special acquisition purpose company (SPAC).
Last Wednesday, the company issued a press release highlighting its focus on electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, seen as the next breakthrough in urban transportation technology.
Solidion noted that SeVTOL aircraft require high-energy battery packs, with experts suggesting the need for gravimetric energy densities in excess of 400Wh/kg. According to the company, the most promising solution currently is lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, and Solidion has developed significant intellectual property and technology in this field since 2010, including more than 100 US patents.
Solidion announced last week that it is exploring partnerships to accelerate the commercialization of lithium-sulfur batteries and the growth of the eVTOL industry.
